The Union County Museum fills five historic buildings on Main Street in Union, a small town southeast of La Grande. Its centerpiece is the Cowboys Then and Now exhibit tracing cattle culture from Spanish ships to 21st-century ranching, joined by displays on agriculture, blacksmithing, Native American heritage, mining, railroads and pioneer life, a restored First National Bank building and a livery station on frontier transport. Open Mother's Day through September, Wednesday to Saturday, 11 am to 3 pm; adult admission is $5.
