Whisky a Go Go is a live music club on the Sunset Strip that opened in January 1964. It was billed as a discotheque and helped popularize go-go dancing, with a dancer spinning records from a glass-walled booth hung high above the floor. The Doors were once the house band, and The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention all played here. The club was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and still books rock, metal, punk and tribute acts.

Doors, showtime, last call
Three different times, and only one of them is usually on the poster. Check all three.
Covers and minimums are normal
Weekend nights often carry a door charge or a per-person minimum, especially for table seating.
Bring ID either way
Age policies shift by night and by room, so carry it even if you have not been asked in years.
Weeknights show the room properly
Quieter nights are the ones where you can actually hear the band and find a seat.
