About Woodmere Art Museum

Woodmere is the museum for Philadelphia's own artists, with more than 8,000 works by names such as Violet Oakley, Thomas Anshutz and Jasper Cropsey. Oil and mining man Charles Knox Smith left his Chestnut Hill estate and 600 works to start it, and it opened in 1940. A second building, Maguire Hall, two blocks away, added galleries and gardens in 2025. Adult admission is $15 and every Sunday is free; both buildings have free parking, and the Wissahickon trails are close by for a walk after.
