About Zaharakos

Zaharakos began as a candy shop founded by three Greek brothers in Columbus, Indiana, and grew into a well-known ice cream parlor. Its interior holds period decor, including a 1908 Welte orchestrion, a Tiffany-style lamp that doubles as a carbonated water dispenser, and a large mahogany backbar with stained glass and mirrors. The site also has a collection of pre-1900 soda fountains and a Victorian-style room called the Crystal Parlor. A self-guided walk through the first floor is included at no charge, and the restaurant serves lunch and dinner with ice cream made on site.
