About Wylie House Museum

This Bloomington house, built in 1835, was home to Andrew Wylie, the first head of Indiana University. Run by IU Libraries, it works as both a public museum and a teaching resource. Its interpretation draws on original objects and archival material. Visitors can join guided tours, walk through the historic gardens, and look at collections. Students and researchers can also book class visits and research appointments. A modernized 19th-century barn next door houses restrooms, air conditioning, and a water station.
