Allmendinger Park is a neighborhood park southwest of downtown Ann Arbor, set along Pauline Boulevard. Its mix of open lawn and oak woods holds softball fields, a play area in a grove of oaks and hickories, picnic tables, a tennis court, and a basketball court. Visitors often fly kites, walk dogs, practice martial arts, or picnic here. Lilacs along the southwest edge bloom in spring. Dogs must stay leashed, and smoking and alcohol are not allowed. The park began in 1917 with a gift of land from a local donor, and a 2012 mosaic project decorates its shelter pillars.
