Anderson Japanese Gardens

318 Spring Creek Rd · Rockford, IL

Why you should go…

Anderson Japanese Gardens is a twelve-acre landscape of streams, waterfalls, winding pathways and koi-filled ponds beside Spring Creek in Rockford. Work began in 1978 after businessman John Anderson visited the Portland Japanese Garden, and designer Hoichi Kurisu has guided the placement of every rock and path since. The gardens became a not-for-profit in 1998. Docent-led tours are offered, and you are asked to stay on the paths and keep to casual photography.
