Museum in Georgia's oldest surviving synagogue covering local Jewish history, traditions, Holocaust remembrance, and Israel.
525 Telfair St., Augusta, GA 30901 · Augusta, GA
The museum occupies a building next to Georgia's oldest surviving synagogue and presents exhibits on Jewish contributions to the Augusta River Region, Jewish daily life and observances, Holocaust remembrance, and the story of Israel. Its education center holds five exhibit rooms with dozens of objects dating from the 1860s to the present, including a saved 1860s Czech Torah. The museum opened to the public in 2021 with rotating displays and educational programs, and plans call for restoring a former sanctuary as a cultural center and event venue.
