Bear Creek Lake is a 326-acre Virginia state park around a 40-acre lake that the Civilian Conservation Corps built in 1938, set inside the 16,000-acre Cumberland State Forest. The park has a swimming beach, a fishing pier, a boat launch, cabins, campgrounds, an archery range and hiking trails. From the park you can reach the 16-mile Willis River Trail and the Cumberland Multi-use Trail for bikes and horses. Parking is $7 per car, and the lot often fills on summer weekends, so arrive early.
