About Metro Richmond Zoo

Set off U.S. Route 360 roughly 20 miles southwest of Richmond, this for-profit zoo covers about 70 acres and is home to around 2,000 animals from more than 190 species. Visitors can feed giraffes, budgie birds, camels, and barnyard animals, and can watch keeper talks and scheduled feedings through the day. Rides include a train, a skylift, a drop tower, and a carousel, plus a kids' playland. Treetop Zoofari offers a zipline and adventure course high in the trees. The zoo also runs conservation work for endangered species and seasonal events such as a holiday nativity pageant and a limited-time prehistoric animal exhibit.
