About Bell Witch Cave

Bell Witch Cave is a privately owned cave near Adams, about 40 minutes from Nashville, on land that was once John Bell's farm. The Bell family's reported haunting began in 1817, and legend says the witch retreated to this cave after leaving them, though historians note the cave stories came much later. Admission covers a guided tour of roughly 40 minutes through the 490-foot cave, which holds a Native American burial site, and a 30-minute tour of a replica Bell cabin with period furnishings. The cave closes during and after heavy rain because of flooding, so check the website banner before you drive out.
