The memorial sits within the Franklin Institute science museum and centers on a seated statue of the inventor and statesman. Sculptor James Earle Fraser worked on the figure during the 1930s, and the memorial opened in 1938. Its surrounding Memorial Hall is a domed marble room designed by John T. Windrim. The National Park Service is affiliated with the memorial, and Federal grants help support its upkeep and new exhibits.
