Breaks Interstate Park straddles the Virginia-Kentucky line at the end of Pine Mountain, and the two states run it together under an interstate compact. Its centerpiece, Breaks Canyon, runs five miles along the Russell Fork and is one of the deepest gorges east of the Mississippi River. The 4,500-acre park has hiking trails, campsites from primitive to RV hookups, and rooms plus the Rhododendron Restaurant at Chafin Lodge. The Russell Fork is known for hard whitewater paddling. Day use costs $3 per car.
