A 5,655-acre New Hampshire state park with hiking trails up Mount Cardigan.
658 Cardigan Mountain Rd, Orange, NH 03741 · Orange, NH
This large state park in west central New Hampshire is known for hiking. A mountain road reaches trails on the west slope of Mount Cardigan, and a trail climbs to the summit. The treeless granite peak at 3,121 feet offers wide views that reach Mount Monadnock, the White Mountains, and peaks in Vermont and Maine. Pets are allowed, and camping is offered at AMC's Cardigan Lodge. The gate usually closes at the end of October, depending on weather, and the park is typically unstaffed in the off-season.
