ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain sits on the Burlington shoreline in northern Vermont. Its interactive galleries cover science, the natural world, and the lake itself. Visitors can see live animals, including fish, amphibians, invertebrates, and reptiles, and watch scheduled animal demonstrations during the day. The building also holds a 3D theater that shows science and nature films, a large aquarium exhibit called Into the Lake, and Champ, a display about Vermont's famous lake monster. Rotating special exhibits, such as a picture-book play space, come through throughout the year. The museum began as the Lake Champlain Basin Science Center and has a stated mission of inspiring families through discovery, nature, and care of Lake Champlain.
