Eno River State Park stretches along its namesake river through seven access areas, about 10 miles northwest of downtown Durham. Fews Ford, with the visitor center, has 13 miles of trail, and the Buckquarter Creek loop leads to a view of the river rapids. The shallow, fast river is popular with anglers, birders and photographers, and paddling can be tricky. The park covers 4,319 acres and is part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. North Carolina charges entrance fees only at three lake recreation areas, so entry here is free.
