The park covers a few acres and takes its name from the Fairfax Stone, a surveyor's marker and boundary stone from the 1700s. The stone was used to resolve a disagreement over land between the English colonies of Maryland and Virginia. Visitors come to see the historic marker and the park's grounds. The park does not offer overnight lodging, so it works best as a short stop during the day.
