About Father Hennepin State Park

Father Hennepin State Park sits on the southeast shore of Mille Lacs Lake, one mile west of Isle. It has a large sandy swimming beach, two boat accesses, two accessible fishing piers for walleye, pike and bass, and 4.5 miles of trails through hardwood forest and along the rocky shore. Two campgrounds hold 103 drive-in sites, 51 with electricity, and the park is known for its albino deer. It is named for Father Louis Hennepin, who stayed with the Dakota in the area in 1680. Cars need a $7 one-day state park permit.
