Fort Custer National Cemetery sits on former Camp Custer land in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. Congress created it in 1981, and the first burial took place in 1982. The grounds hold a memorial pathway with dozens of monuments donated by veterans groups, a carillon, and an Avenue of Flags along the main road. Visitors can walk the paved roads, and the cemetery is open daily from dawn to dusk.
