Ghost Ranch

280 Private Drive 1708 · Abiquiu, NM

Why you should go…

Ghost Ranch is a 21,000-acre retreat and education center of rock walls and vivid color about 65 miles northwest of Santa Fe. Georgia O'Keeffe kept a summer home here and painted the landscape, with Cerro Pedernal often appearing in her work. A day pass covers the hiking trails, a labyrinth, and two museums, one of them showing Triassic fossils from three nearby quarries. The Kitchen Mesa Trail leads to the quarry where hundreds of Coelophysis dinosaur skeletons were found.
