The Hageman Farm sits on South Middlebush Road and has been tied to two Dutch-descended families since the mid-1700s. Benjamin Hageman returned to the old Garretson homestead in 1861 and built the Italianate-Victorian house that stands today. His son Garretson, a surveyor and civil engineer, designed the dairy, horse, and wagon barns, which were finished in 1876-77 and blend Dutch, English, and Victorian styles. The farm passed through several generations, was nearly abandoned after the family left in 1972, and was bought by the Franklin Township Council in 1978. The Meadows Foundation now maintains the property and its historic buildings.
