The Haskell Free Library and Opera House sits on the international boundary, with its Vermont side in Derby Line and its Quebec side in Stanstead. Founded in 1901, it serves communities on both sides of the border in English and French, offering library services, reading materials, programming, and visual and performing arts. Its cornerstone was set in 1901 with Masonic participation, and the opera house opened in 1904. Both countries later designated the building as heritage.
