About Sentinel Rock State Park

Sentinel Rock State Park covers about 356 acres in the Town of Westmore in northeastern Vermont. It sits on the slope of a ridge that falls gently northwest from Bald Mountain, roughly a short drive from Lake Willoughby. The land was given to the state in 1997 by the Wright family. Visitors can see broad views over Westmore and the Green Mountains. Stone drill marks left from a late nineteenth-century farm project are still visible on a boulder beside the Sentinel Rock glacial erratic. Trails developed with the Northwoods Stewardship Center start at the home site, cross a field, enter the forest, and lead to The Rock. The park also allows scenic viewing, educational activities, hunting, and trapping.
