Hawks Inn was built by Nelson P. Hawks as a Greek Revival inn that served travelers on the stagecoach route. It was once the hub of social and political activity in the small frontier village of Delafield. Visitors arriving in the early territorial period included settlers seeking land, fur traders, politicians, and miners heading to lead mines in western Wisconsin. The building has been restored and now operates as a historic site and museum, with a companion history center nearby. Tours are offered on a limited weekly schedule.
