1075 Pilgrim Parkway, Brookfield, WI · Brookfield, WI
This Greek Revival inn was built in 1843 by Michael Dousman and once served travelers on the plank road between Milwaukee and Watertown. Later it became a farm, then passed through the Dunkel family before being donated to the City of Brookfield. The Elmbrook Historical Society moved the building to its present site in 1981 and has restored and furnished it with period antiques. Outbuildings on the grounds include a visitor center housed in an 1852 log cabin, an ice house, a smoke house, a wagon and blacksmith shop, and a school bell tower.
