Walk among the restored buildings and exotic gardens of a 19th-century utopian settlement, then paddle or fish on the Estero River.

Koreshan State Park preserves the settlement of the Koreshan Unity, a religious colony whose last members gave the land to Florida in 1961. Guided or self-guided tours lead through landscaped grounds and eleven restored buildings, past trees the settlers brought from abroad, such as sausage trees and a bunya pine. Nature trails follow the Estero River, where you can fish or paddle, and the campground has 60 sites with water and power. Florida state parks open at 8 am and close at sunset.
