US 1 between Knight's Key and Little Duck Key · Marathon, FL
The Seven Mile Bridge carries US 1 for 6.79 miles over open water between Knight's Key in Marathon and Little Duck Key in the Lower Keys. Beside it runs the original span, built from 1909 to 1912 for Henry Flagler's railroad. A restored 2.2-mile section of that old bridge reopened in January 2022 as a path for walkers and cyclists, leading to tiny Pigeon Key, once a railroad work camp. Each April the bridge hosts the Seven Mile Bridge Run.
General sightseeing guidance
Habits that pay off across this whole category, not rules for this one venue. Always check the official site for the specifics.
The forecast is part of the ticket
Haze, low cloud, and rain flatten a view. Clear-day visits are worth rearranging your plans for.
Golden hour sells out first
Sunset slots at observation decks and cruises are the first to go, so book those further ahead.
Dress a layer warmer
It is always breezier up high and out on the water than it feels at street level.
Timed entry is common
Plenty of landmarks release tickets in windows rather than at the door, so check before you walk over.
