Lake Darling State Park sits in Washington County in southeast Iowa and is named for conservationist and cartoonist J.N. Ding Darling. Visitors can hike or bike trails that wind past wetlands, remnant prairie, and an 1800s cemetery. The park offers a paved fishing trail, a beach, and boating on the lake, where motors are allowed at no-wake speed. Boat rentals are offered through a concession, and anglers can fish from a jetty, a trail, and a pier. Overnight options include modern and camping cabins, a campground with full-hookup, electric, and non-electric sites, and a renovated lodge and shelters for group gatherings. Winter visitors can snowmobile and cross-country ski.
