Former home of civil rights leader Medgar Evers, now a National Park Service monument in Jackson, Mississippi.
2332 Margaret Walker Alexander Drive · Jackson, MS
This national monument preserves the Jackson home where civil rights activist Medgar Evers lived with his wife, Myrlie Evers. Evers was killed outside the home in 1963, an event that drew national attention to the movement and helped lead to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The site sits within the Medgar Evers Historic District. Myrlie Evers has continued to advocate for racial equality and social justice. The National Park Service describes the monument as a new unit of the national park system and says it is developing plans to welcome visitors.
