Miamisburg Mound is one of the two largest conical mounds in eastern North America: 65 feet tall, 800 feet around, and made of 54,000 cubic yards of earth. The Adena people built it in stages between about 800 B.C. and A.D. 100, and it sits on a 100-foot ridge above the Great Miami River. Steps lead to an observation platform on top. Entry is free, a visit takes about 30 minutes, and restrooms have been closed, so plan ahead.
