About Morrow Mountain State Park

Morrow Mountain State Park covers 5,881 acres in the Uwharrie Mountains of Stanly County, about 50 miles northeast of Charlotte. It has 54 miles of hiking trails and 33 miles of bridle trails, plus cabins, campsites and a shore on Lake Tillery with weekend boat rentals in season. The Civilian Conservation Corps built many park buildings from local stone, and a rebuilt Kron House, home of Prussian-born settler Francis Kron from 1839, sits at the foot of Fall Mountain. Day use is free; the park pool is closed for the 2026 season.
