About Musgrove Mill State Historic Site

This state park preserves the ground where a 1780 Revolutionary War clash took place between Patriot militia and a combined Loyalist and British force. The Patriot win is presented as a morale boost for South Carolina's resistance at a difficult moment. Interpretive signs in the visitor center and along the park's trails explain the battle and the partisan fighting that split backcountry communities. Visitors can walk the British Camp Trail beside the Enoree River and a longer battlefield trail, and see Horseshoe Falls, a fishing pond, and a picnic shelter. Ranger-led hikes, special events, and living history programs take place through the year.
