Run by the Spartanburg County Historical Association, this site in Roebuck shows how settlers, enslaved people, and Patriot families shaped the South Carolina Backcountry. Charles and Mary Moore received land from the Crown and raised ten children in the house they built. Their household relied on enslaved workers and family labor to run a large farm. During the Revolution the family backed the Patriot side, and local militia gathered on the property before the Battle of Cowpens. Guided tours cover the manor house, a kitchen cabin, and Rocky Spring Academy, while the grounds include outbuildings, a blacksmith forge, gardens, a family cemetery, and a nature trail. Visitors may also picnic in a covered pavilion.
