The Nelson House, also called the Taylor-Wessel-Bickel-Nelson House, is a museum set in a brick home built in 1857 on a historic brick street near Central Avenue. The page describes it as one of the oldest structures in Nebraska and a fine example of Greek Revival design. Its exhibits, drawn from the territorial era, show how the town changed over time through the lives of different families, including the shift from dirt streets to paved ones and from oxen to early automobiles. The house also hosts events and tours during the year, with its largest event, Sweet Summer Afternoon, held each early August as a free outdoor family gathering.
