Newport Aquarium opened in 1999 at Newport on the Levee, across the Ohio River from downtown Cincinnati, and holds about a million gallons of water. Shark Bridge, a 75-foot V-shaped rope bridge, carries you just above the sharks and rays of the Surrounded by Sharks exhibit. Penguin Palooza houses King, Gentoo, Macaroni and Chinstrap penguins, and five acrylic tunnels let fish swim overhead.
