Oakwoods is a roughly 55-acre natural area in the far northeast part of Ann Arbor, bounded by Green Road, Nixon Road, M-14, and the Arbor Hills neighborhood. Its unpaved trails climb rolling terrain shaded by mature oaks and hickories. Several small wetland ponds draw birders, and spring brings frog calls. Traffic noise from M-14 can be heard in the northern section. Dogs must be leashed, and smoking and alcohol are prohibited. The city has restored the land for years through removal of invasive buckthorn and controlled burns.
