About Olana State Historic Site

Olana was the home, studio and designed landscape of Hudson River School painter Frederic Edwin Church, who built the stenciled, Persian-inspired mansion in 1870 to 1872. The 250-acre grounds and five miles of carriage drives are free and open every day. Guided tours of the house's main floor cost $20 and landscape walks $12, and they sell out early, so book ahead. From the house you look across the Hudson Valley to the Catskill Mountains.
