Hear the legend of conquistador gold on an hour-long guided walk a third of a mile into an Ozark maze cave, then pan for gems outside.

This show cave in Treasure Hollow near the Missouri line has drawn visitors since at least 1908 with a legend that Spanish conquistadors hid gold inside, and people have dug for it since the late 1800s. The guided tour lasts about an hour and goes about a third of a mile into a maze cavern of rooms and passages, left mostly in its natural state, where you may spot bats or salamanders. It stays 58 degrees all year. Outside, an 1850s log cabin holds the rock and gift shop, and you can sluice for gemstones.
