About Raccoon Creek State Park

One of Pennsylvania's largest and most visited state parks, Raccoon Creek began in the 1930s as a Recreational Demonstration Area run by the National Park Service, and rustic group camps built by the Civilian Conservation Corps still stand. The 101-acre Raccoon Lake is the place for swimming, fishing and boating, while trails serve hikers, bikers and cross-country skiers. In the eastern section, the Wildflower Reserve has more than 700 plant species along 4.5 miles of hiking-only trails and an interpretive center. The park also holds the site of Frankfort Mineral Springs, a Victorian-era health resort.
