Walk the remains of a Spanish fort where the Wakulla and St. Marks rivers meet, see artifacts in a small museum, and fish off Tucker's Point.
148 Old Fort Road, St. Marks, FL 32355 · St. Marks, FL
The Spanish first built a wooden fort here in 1679 and began a stone one in the 1750s, and the site later passed to the British, the United States and the Confederacy. Today it is a National Historic Landmark where you can follow a self-guided trail past the ruins. The museum shows pottery and tools dug up near the fort and an 18-minute video on its history. There is no entrance fee, museum entry is $2 per person, and Tucker's Point is a good spot to fish for redfish and trout.
