Known locally as Sesqui, this state park sits on roughly 1,419 acres of pine woods, lake shoreline, and trails in the Sandhills, yet remains close to downtown Columbia. Visitors can camp, paddle or fish on the park lake, walk or bike the trails, and rent kayaks and canoes. The Sandhills Trail is a flat, mostly paved loop around the lake that passes a CCC-built spillway and boardwalks over wet lowlands. A fenced dog park, a splash pad that operates seasonally, and several picnic shelters round out the offerings.
