A volunteer-run railroad museum offering trolley and pump car rides, a visitor center, and a caboose to climb.
Shelburne Falls, MA
This small operating museum in the village of Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, lets visitors ride Trolley No. 10 and an antique pump car, which is not suitable for small children. The visitor center has model and toy trains for children, historical photographs, and a gift shop with trolley and railroad items. Guests can also climb into a large red caboose and then explore the nearby artisan shops, galleries, and restaurants. The museum keeps a collection of railroad and trolley artifacts and rolling stock, including the parlor car Berkshire Hills. It is run entirely by volunteers as a nonprofit that depends on memberships and donations, and it also hosts parties and field trips.
