See snow leopards, jaguars, Mexican gray wolves and a walk-through Caribbean aviary at a hillside zoo in the Middlesex Fells north of Boston.

Stone Zoo is a 26-acre zoo in Stoneham that opened in 1905 as the Middlesex Fells Zoo. Zoo New England runs it along with Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, and one membership covers both. Rocky wooded hillsides hold snow leopards, jaguars, cougars and a pack of Mexican gray wolves, and the Caribbean Coast aviary lets you walk among flamingos and macaws. Parking is free in the lot off Pond Street, and MBTA buses 132 and 99 stop by the zoo. Ticket prices change by day and time, and booking online ahead is usually cheaper than paying at the gate.
