Sunken Gardens

Historic botanical garden in downtown St. Petersburg with old tropical plants, waterfalls, flamingos, and rehomed tropical birds.

About Sunken Gardens

A roughly century-old garden in the center of St. Petersburg, it holds many of the region's oldest tropical plants. Winding paths lead past a large plant collection, demonstration gardens, waterfalls, a flock of flamingos, and rehomed tropical birds such as macaws and cockatoos. Because it is a historic roadside attraction, visitors are asked to keep to the paths, avoid touching or climbing plants and structures, and watch animals from a distance. The grounds can close during bad weather.
