About Thomas Stone National Historic Site

This National Park Service site protects Haberdeventure, the home and estate of Thomas Stone, one of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The park presents the story of a family that faced serious personal risk by backing the cause of independence. Visitors can see the mansion, outbuildings, a family cemetery, and a nature trail system, and can take an interpretive audio tour that recreates the estate as the revolution approached in 1775. The site also offers a Junior Ranger program and a historic resource study covering the people who lived at the estate between 1770 and 1787.
