Timberline Lodge

27500 E Timberline Rd · Government Camp, OR

Why you should go…

Built by Depression-era WPA craftspeople, Timberline Lodge sits at 6,000 feet on Mount Hood's south slope and is a National Historic Landmark. Its exterior stood in for the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick's The Shining, and the lodge stays open year-round for skiing, hiking, and just wandering its timber-and-stone great hall.
