About University of Kentucky Arboretum

The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, is a 100-acre public garden on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington, run jointly by the university and the city since 1991. Its Walk Across Kentucky is a two-mile paved path through more than 80 acres of wild-collected native plants arranged by the state's seven regions, with over 2,500 trees and shrubs. Leashed dogs are welcome on that path, though not in the gardens, and bikes are not allowed on the paths. Horticultural gardens near the visitor center add year-round color, and the Kentucky Children's Garden costs $4 per person in season.
