About Cherokee Park

Cherokee Park is a 409-acre city park in Louisville's Highlands, designed in 1891 by Frederick Law Olmsted as the east anchor of the city's park system. The 2.4-mile Scenic Loop runs past meadows and woods with one lane for cars and a separate lane for walkers and cyclists. Look for Hogan's Fountain, a 1905 sculpture of Pan by Enid Yandell, the picnic area at Big Rock on Beargrass Creek, a fenced dog park on Cochran Hill and the Nettleroth Bird Sanctuary. The park has many entrances from surrounding neighborhoods, so pick one before you set out.
