About West Georgia Museum

The West Georgia Museum in Tallapoosa presents local history for visitors of all ages. Reconstructed period shops, including a barber shop and a bank, recall the late 1800s and early 1900s. Children are greeted by a dinosaur display headed by a 30-foot Tyrannosaurus rex. Horse-drawn vehicles and a restored 1923 Ford peddler's wagon add to the historical scenes. Visitors describe the staff as friendly and knowledgeable, and recent donations of Native American objects are a highlight. The museum offers free parking, public restrooms, meeting space, and self-guided touring.
