The William Root House is one of the older and better-kept houses left in the Atlanta area, and it is operated by the Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society. Visitors can take a self-guided tour that uses touchscreens, and the site says it was the first U.S. house museum to offer this kind of tour. Exhibits cover the Root family and the enslaved household workers who lived there before emancipation, with new research helping to fill in their stories. Families can use activity books and scavenger hunts. The property also has a visitor center with a gift shop, and it hosts private events with indoor and outdoor spaces for 20 to 150 guests. A Victorian funeral display runs through October 31, 2026, and after-hours flashlight tours were scheduled for October 23 and 24, 2026.
